The Artist that Stood Out

Stefan Sagmeister was born August 6 1962 in Bregenz, Austria. He makes a living by creating identities, books, films, adverts, objects and the list goes on.

Sagmeister did an exhibition called the "Happy Show" which explored the emotion of "happiness" with creativity and art. The aim was to to create and display all the things that made people happy and evoked the feeling of joy.

I found this really enlightening as I am all about the hard truth and reality of the world's despair, sidelining the fact that happiness and joy does belong in the world to.

The style of the show was using current objects and manipulating them to create a new message, I found inspiration in this as its something I try to incorporate in my art as well.

I appreciate his work because for me personally the concept of "happiness" would be a very difficult theme for me to create art in, but it is something I would like to achieve at in my design/art career.

I also have found meaning in his characters he has designed, they are faceless and emotionless, but the action is the feeling of happiness and joy.

Sagmeister is definitely a person and a role model I will carry throughout my lifetime.
